Would You Like a Cash Rebate With That?

Do you shop on the internet? If your answer is "yes", you should be receiving cash rebates. Here is some information on the idea behind cash rebates, and how you can be putting cash back into your pocket.

Companies Want YOU

Millions of customers purchase products and services over the internet each day. Shopping on-line gives access to everything you could possibly desire, and products are delivered directly to your door. Companies and individuals who have internet stores now have a worldwide market at their fingertips.

The one downside to this for businesses is that the internet is a very competitive field.

This is a bonus for customers, as companies will go to great lengths to obtain and secure YOUR business. Some companies offer samples and freebies, but this can be expensive and not necessarily successful. The best way for a company to develop real business is to offer an incentive to actual customers.

One of the methods being used to do just this is to offer cash rebates to customers who have purchased a service or product.

What is a Cash Rebate?

Rather than discounting a product or service, a cash rebate is money returned to you after you have made the purchase. Individual rebates might seem small, but if you regularly shop on line, the savings can be substantial.

How Do Cash Rebates Work?

There are websites designed to bring together companies offering cash rebates and customers. Companies register their rebate offer, and customers are provided with details on how to shop to claim the rebate. It is probably easier to illustrate by giving some actual examples of these websites.

My Power Mall will give you your own free on-line mall to shop in, with every company offering some kind of rebate. Purchases are tracked, and the rebates are sent to you by check or PayPal. They also give additional incentives, like a travel voucher valued at $300 for spending over $50 in a month. My Power Mall is actively engaged in charity work, so you not only save, but help people in need as well.

Big Crumbs is another such free website offering cash rebates for buying from companies online, including Ebay. It is more like a social network site than a mall, where you can be as quiet or active as you wish. You simply log in, shop, and rebates are paid to you directly into your PayPal account.

These are just two examples. Companies wishing to offer rebates can use the contact information on each site.

The Power of Multiplication

Most websites offering cash rebates will additionally reward customers for recommending the service to others. Both Big Crumbs and My Power Mall will pay you a percentage of the rebates of all the people you refer, and this goes several levels deep. Some people have turned recommending cash rebate websites into a full time business.

Who Should Do This?

If you don't shop over the internet, and don't know anyone who does, this is not really for you.

However, anyone who enjoys on-line shopping is potentially losing money by not using one of these websites. While most companies aim towards customers in North America, rebate sites are available in many countries around the world.

Even if you don't regularly shop on-line, if you know people who do, you could be making some extra cash simply by showing them how to save.

If you have an Ebay store, you can promote it for free through Big Crumbs. This kind of advertising is valuable.

Finally, if you own a company with an on-line store, it is well worth considering whether you would expand your business by offering cash rebates.

Contributor's Note

Times are tough, and it's worth getting back every bit of cash possible. When buying anything, it's a good idea to do your pricing homework though. There is no point in paying more just for a rebate! I have found prices on these sites to be competitive, but I always check. Have fun shopping. Penny
