The Truth About Working From Home
If you've spent any time at all on the internet, you will have seen them - ads promoting that you can make money in your sleep just by paying to join a certain on-line program. There must be thousands if not millions of "opportunities", all promising big returns for little or no work. Let's face it - if it were that easy, we would all be sitting at home in front of our computers, and we would all be filthy rich. But we're not. Instant wealth on the internet is rarer than winning the lottery. Even the "big dogs" of internet marketing are working constantly to maintain their incomes, keep their leads and make new ones. However, the internet does offer REAL opportunities to people who are not afraid of working, and can result in a very rewarding income for those who dare risk their time and money. The main advantage of the internet is that it opens up the entire world as your market. You can use this advantage to expand an existing business to an international level. - Sites such as Ebay offer instant shopfronts for even the most inexperienced.
- As your business grows, there are many solutions to create a very complex online store. Alternatively, there are existing businesses which are happy to pay people to promote and sell their products, either as affiliates or as network marketers. The most important thing when choosing to represent someone else's company is to do your research thoroughly. Lots of sites come and go, and there are many, many scammers out there. - Look for companies with a strong background, a good reputation, realistically priced products, and an open policy. (Secrets might seem intriguing, but they are designed to raise your curiosity and suck you in.)
- If the company depends entirely upon recruiting others, it is a recipe for failure and disappointment for the majority. Look instead for companies which allow you to retail the products at competitive prices and still make a profit.
- Look for products YOU personally like.
- Look for products people actally WANT.
- You should not have to pay just for the pleasure of working for a company. Becoming an affiliate or representative should be free. You should be able to purchase products at wholesale price to resell at a profit, or sell directly from a website or link.
- If possible, look for something which rewards you for referring and training your competition, as otherwise it is too easy for a happy customer to join the business and go after your potential clients! "Overnight successes" actually take a lot of time and work - getting traffic to your website, getting to know your business, nurturing leads, training your own team to become leaders, building lists and contacts. Suddenly it will all come together, and the money will start to roll in. Rather than waste your time and money on "instant wealth" sites which lead nowhere, why not try to build a strong and secure business that you can be proud of? Your rewards for patience and perserverance will be independence, financial success, security and freedom to make your own decisions.

I don't live in a mansion, or on a tropical island, but I do earn enough with my home business to be able to stay home with my family. If I can do it, so can you. I wrote this article to inspire those who are working hard to build something real. It is worth it.
